No alarm clock needed!

I am woken the same way every single morning, in fact, I have been woken this way for nearly eleven years. Yes, yes, it has varied over the years but it has the same basic components; a certain, unmistakeable ‘aroma’ fills my nostrils as a crescendo of thud thudding rumbles through the bedroom, the bright clock flashes 7:15 am.

Experience has taught me not to take that extra five minutes ( admit it, you all do it ) to stretch, to slowly wake myself, to yawn and maybe cuddle my husband before facing my day. I don’t do that. I don’t dare do that. Ever.

I leap out of my cosey bed, toss my hair into something that resembles a bun as I quickly make my way to the thud thudding. I watch his door wobble from the latest thud, I gently push the door open. I don’t even brace myself anymore. I know exactly what to expect due to the strenght of the ‘aroma’.

“Mischa Muscha Mickey Mouse” he sings from the top of his lungs, arms outstretched as he sees me standing in his room. I am thankful my other two boys are heavy sleepers. His beautiful big blue eyes meet mine. “Shhh, shhh” I place my finger over my lip as I scan the room, I will definatley need milton today. “Shower?” he asks as he limps his way over to me. I look at his smeared face, hands, clothes and walls , I sigh,”Yep”.

I carefully guide him into his bathroom, hoping his nappy won’t let me down…again. He happily gets into the shower as he has done for the past eleven years. He waits for me, ” ready?” I ask as I wash off the nights ‘aroma’. ” Love love love ” he repeats ,” Love you too Boo” I respond, as he wriggles and squirms trying to hide from the towel.
