BAMBOOM…

It is coming.

Before we know it the city will be adorned with fairy lights , the market will pop up all over the city ,carols will be sung, while reminders of how many shopping days are left will be plastered all over shop windows .

Yes, Christmas is coming.

I am organised this year. This year I decided I wouldn’t be part of the last dash shoppers who accumulate around the city from the 20th of December onwards.
No panic shopping for me this year!

I’ve said it a few times before but it’s worth saying it again ; buying gifts for Ethan can be a difficult task.

This year I went down the route of ordering ‘The Simpsons’ teddies and a few other Simpsons bits and pieces. I decided he had enough sensory toys for now and this year was the year to spoil him.

With Ethan almost finished , I teamed up with Beata from Bamboom. The reason I wanted to work with Beata, was simple. Beata handmakes personalised embroidered gifts.

In other words, a very personal gift for Ethan.

I am sure you all know by now, why that would mean so much to me , but for those of you who don’t know; Ethan has a life limiting condition called Hunter Syndrome.

Time is very precious to us , it is something we are all too aware of. To have something that Ethan can use and to have it personalised for him, really got me a tad emotional, if I am being totally honest.

Beata is one of those people, who used what they have a true love for and turned it into a business. She is very passionate about what she does and it does come across in her work. She is what I would describe as a perfectionist ; she takes great pride in her products and rightly so, they are beautiful .

( Check out Bamboom Facebook Page – you’ll see what I mean )

I found out a little about Beata and her company Bamboom through the process of having a personalised pillow made for Ethan.

Beata is a young mother who decided to turn her passion into a business. She lives in Galway, so is a local business (I believe whenever we can shop local , we should) and she is so so easy to contact regarding any process of placing your order.

I got to choose the fabric, with Beata’s help , as I know nothing about fabrics . I got to choose color, design and obviously what I would like embroidered onto the pillow.

I choose a pillow because as the evenings get darker , Ethan tends to relax more and have a short snooze on the couch. We have been bringing down his pillow from his bedroom on the days when he is just too tired to do anything other than watch TV.
When his pillow arrived he grabbed it and pointed at the Polar bears with great excitement. Ethan loves Christmas . I went with a Christmas themed pillow for that reason. I wanted to see a reaction and I got one. He refused to let me look at the pillow. He sat on it, cuddled it and eventually lay on it. It is most definitely something he loves and will get great use out of.

We decided to keep the pillow downstairs so that Ethan can use it to nap on rather than having to run up and down the stairs to get his bedroom pillow.
I’ll not lie, the pillow is so beautiful that we really wanted to use the opportunity to show it off too!

Beata is only new to the business but already has built up a great reputation amongst the locals , as she can and will customise orders to suit her customer needs. That impressed me , as Beata makes baby blankets and bibs , which got me thinking about Ethan’s needs . She informed me that she could indeed make a blanket to suit a wheelchair and could of course make a bib or bandana once a requested to do so.

Beata is very personal when it comes to dealing with customers, she’s very involved but also well able to tell you that you’re colours don’t match; I get colours mixed up and thought yellow would be nice for the embroidery ; Beata wasn’t long gently letting me know that red would work better – I like that, I need that kind of honesty when buying something that I know , Ethan will use and love.

Beata doesn’t want her customers to get something personalised and then to leave it away in the attic or press ; this is why she creates everyday items with that extra personal touch.
She has so many to choose from ; Dry quick gym towels, baby blankets, bibs, neckerchiefs, pillows , wedding cushions (to name a few) and offers a special request form on her website if she hasn’t got what you’re looking for.

All in all it was a simple process with a very helpful and friendly Beata online anytime I needed her.
The prices all vary but are very reasonable ; there is no extra charge for creating your own pillow, for example.

I am delighted to have had the chance to work with Beata and Bamboom and cannot recommend her products enough; especially if you’re looking for that little something that’s different and unquie .

As a thank you for reading , Bamboom have kindly offered a personalised Christmas Stocking to one of you lucky readers – Checkout Facebook for more details .

I am confident Ethan will stay still enough for me to snap a picture of him and his new pillow , eventually !

*Bamboom gifted me the pillow in exchange for my review, all opinions are my own.

  1. I’ve not heard of Hunter Syndrome before, it sounds difficult. I love the look of the cushion you got – the colours are lovely and festive and am pleased to hear Ethan liked it. I cant believe how fast it is approaching but I wish you a very merry christmas for when it arrives.
